The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) is pleased to announce that two Coca Cola Foundation Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students who will pursue an environmental internship during the Spring Semester of 2014. Please find more details below about the scholarship and TWC programs.
Scholarship information:
• Each scholarship will cover $4,805 of the program fee. Students will be required to pay the remaining TWC program and housing fee.
• The Coca-Cola Foundation will be the source of funding for International Leaders Awards for students from Latin America and Asia interested in environmental internships.

There's no better way to transition from the classroom to the workplace than with an internship. In fact, interning is becoming a crucial step in landing that all-important first job. Through this program, you'll gain valuable experience, insight into possible career paths, a network of professional connections, and direction for your future. In a recent survey, 98% of TWC interns said our program significantly strengthened their career prospects. Now, our alumni are leaders in virtually every field - public service, journalism, business, law, medicine, education, and more. Please check our program guide.
Program Components:
TWC program is an investment into your future. It helps you test your interests, decide on a career direction and acquire the skills and experience needed to pursue it. It puts you in a position to network and discover opportunities for employment. The program includes the following components, each designed to improve your skill sets.
• Internship: you will be placed in an internship with an organization that fits your interests and skills. You will intern four and a half days a week.
• Academic Course: you will complete an academic course. TWC's faculty includes adjunct professors from local universities including Georgetown and Johns Hopkins University, among others.
• Leadership Forum: you will attend a series of events with experts and leaders from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors on Monday afternoons.
• Civic Engagement/Social Responsibility Project: you will devote a minimum of 15 hours over the semester to active learning and action to become well-informed about an issue you care about and then work to make a positive difference in public life at the local, national or global level.
•Portfolio: you will produce a compilation of documents that chronicles and summarizes your learning experience during your time with The Washington Center.
Program Dates:
The Spring 2014 Program begins on January 22nd and ends on May 10th, 2014. Please apply by November 1st, 2013!
How to Apply:

• One-page Résumé.
• 500-word Issues Essay on the topic of environment.
• 100-word Statement of Professional Interests indicating the type of activities you would like to be involved with during the internship. The internship has to be related to an environmental field.
• Two Letters of Recommendation (one of which must be provided by a faculty member).
• Official Transcript from university showing a GPA at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
• TOEFL Exam (80 or higher on the Internet-based test) or official equivalent exam, waived in certain cases.
• Copy of the first page of Passport.
